In collaboration with Snap-On tools I alongside a talented group of students, developed a set of professional cycling tools for Snap-On. The project included hard and soft goods from wrenches to bags. Snap On is a sponsor of Bahrain McLaren pro cycling team they will provide quality tools to them.

As part of the industrial design team my contribution included research, user testing, ideation, and sketching as well as CAD and animation work.

Our client

Snap-on Incorporated is an American designer, manufacturer, and marketer of high-end tools and equipment for professional use in the transportation industry, including automotive, heavy-duty, equipment, marine, aviation, and railroad industries. Snap-On is also the parent company to 25+ high end tool brands around the world.

Brief

Design a collection of Bahco branded cycling tools and accessories to be used by professional mechanics. The design should follow Bahco's high-end Ergo tool line.

The collection includes tire levers, spoke wrench, multi-tool, CO2 inflator, torque screwdriver, large carrying bag, and a saddle bag.

Define

Research

The research process consisted of two phases, the primary and secondary research. During the primary research we created empathy with our user through interviews, surveys, and observations. The secondary research consisted on material research and in depth analysis of the tools.

Tool Personas

Tool Personas is a research method strategically designed by the SCADpro research team. It represents a synthesis of secondary and primary research, breaking down the tools in an empathetic manner. The Tools Personas served as an essential guide to the designers during the development of the final tools' designs.
